Search online databases to find sexual predators in your area....

When my daughter was in third grade, a note was passed out to all parents concerning a school meeting that week called by the local police department. The topic was the announcement of a registered sexual predator who had moved into a home right across the street from the school!

My wife and I naturally attended the packed meeting, and the atmosphere could only be described as tense. The meeting began with an outline from a police detective of the new "Megan's Law" statutes that required sex offenders to register their presence in communities, and public notification.

Midway through the presentation, an older guy who appeared to be in his 60's (and drunk, as well) became a bit surly and combative with his questions directed towards the detective. The guy looked harmless, and most of the parents (us included) dismissed his outbursts. It wasn't until the end of the meeting that the detective announced the name of the registered sex offender, and we were stunned when the detective pointed to the old geezer!

Son of a Bitch!! This same bastard that had bitched through most of the meeting about police intrusions into private life had been convicted three (3) seperate times of violent sex crimes against children as young as age six.

Half of the parents in attendance nearly passed-out from shock at this revelation, and the other half moved to pound this scumbag who who continued to shout how "unfair it is to him that he has to be publically outed". The police officers in attendance quickly hustled this deviant out of the meeting (though I'm sure they would rather have left him there to be torn apart).

It took a few days for this surreal scene to fully sink in. How could this violent sociopath be allowed to live in a house right across the street from the grade school? We moved from the area shortly after. But before we purchased our new home, we first checked for similar sex predators using the National Alert Registry. The bottom line is: Protect Your Kids!!
